Retail Store and Manufacturing Donation Program

The Retail Store and Manufacturing Donation Program is an important component to providing hunger relief. The food bank and its member pantries pick up hundreds of pounds of excess food products from area retailers each week.

The retail donation program curbs waste by rescuing food products to distribute to families facing hunger. The program helps retailers build their reputation as a socially responsible company while at the same time showing their commitment to sustainable operations and community involvement. The program helps retailers free up precious storage space and reduce dumpster fees, while at the same time possibly qualifying for tax deductions through their donations. The federal Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act protects good faith donors from civil and criminal liability.
